Meet Jenna Cohen.
Owner and Trust and Estate Paralegal
Thanks for wanting to learn more about me!
On a professional note: I always joke that I was “raised by old school attorneys,” but it’s true! I started working in law firms right when going digital was becoming a thing. Abacus anyone?
I feel so grateful for my experience starting as a law firm receptionist in 2008 and for all the attorneys along the way who took me under their wing to teach me the ways of Trusts and Estates. I received my paralegal certificate in 2013, and have been working as a Trust and Estate Paralegal since. In 2017, I left the in-office setting and started freelancing. It was pretty tough at first since remote assistance was scarce for estate planning firms. Then you-know-what happened in 2020 and the remote world changed almost overnight.
Today, I assist Trust and Estate attorneys with their Estate Plan drafting, Trust Administrations, Probate, and all those miscellaneous Petitions that come up from time to time (Heggstads, Spousal Property Petitions, Petitions to Modify Irrevocable Trusts, etc.). I feel I have reached the peak of my career and I couldn’t be happier. Some have asked if I am going to law school, but if all of us paralegals went to law school, who would provide support for the attorneys? Also, there’s a hundred other things I rather do with my time than sit in a classroom and do homework!
..............................
On a personal note: I am a born and raised Californian even though I currently live in North Texas (as of November 2024). I have three beautiful girls who are my why. I’m a dabbler in projects, like making my own sourdough, gardening, cooking, home reno, art, and any bee that happens to fly under my bonnet. My favorite vacation is camping (in a trailer).
I’d love to hear from you!
